Default editing a template

I created a template for other users to use. The idea behind the template is
that each of the 6 users will e-mail information to me, which I will then
merge into the master document. My question is how do I edit the text that
they send to me? Right now when I try to click on it, the entire text is
highlighted. I have unprotected the document so I'm not sure why I can't
edit what I'm seeing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
