Default Page number alignment problem in table of contents

Hello,

I have a table of contents that contains the following entries:

1.1 Site 1...........
1.1.1 Methods..........
1.1.2 Results..............
1.1.3 Discussion............

2.1 Site 2.............
2.1.1 Methods..........
2.1.2 Results..............
2.1.3 Discussion............ etc

Most of the page numbers are aligned on the right hand side of the page,
acting like a good page number should. However, for every 'Results' section
the page numbers are all sitting right at the end of the word. I can fix this
by manually dragging the tabs to the correct place, but when I update the
table they go wrong again. Any suggestions for how to fix this?

Thanks,

Jay

Sounds like your TOC 3 style has an extra tab set at around 1.25" or
1.5" that you don't need. Delete the extra tab from the TOC 3 style.
See http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styl...ifyAStyle.html or press
the F1 key for more information.

Thanks garfield but it didnt help. There were only two tabs; the left tab
that provided the position for the headings and the right tab that provided
the position for the page numbers. Deleting the left one (which was at ca
1.5") pulled all TOC 3 headings up against the left margin, but the page
number next to 'results' didn't move to the right. Note that only the page
number for 'results' is in the wrong place, all other TOC 3 page numbers are
correctly positioned.

"Results" is too short to extend beyond your tab stop at 1.5", which seems
like an awfully large indent for just the numbers you have preceding the
headings.
