scroll mouse wheel in Word 2007?
My Microsoft mice (I have tried several models) do not scroll with the wheel
in Word 2007. WIth the more complex Laser 6000 mouse, using a side button allows one to scroll (awkwardly), but not with the wheel. I have updated the IntelliPoint programme for mice, but to no avail. THe Microsoft web site does not even mention scrolling (even though the web shows that this has been a problem over over a year.) Can anyone help? |

scroll mouse wheel in Word 2007?
Further to Terry message. If one clicks in another window, leaving the word
page inactive, then the mouse wheel will scroll on the inactive page. But the minute one clicks again on the the word page to do anything, the ability to scroll disappears. Also, note that the scroll funtion works well in allother programmes, on the web, etc. It is only in Word 2007 that it does not work. scroll mouse wheel in Word 2007?
Hi,
I had the same problem. My laser mouse wouldn˙t scroll the Word 2007 document windows. It is now working thanks to a free utility called ´KatMouseˇ: ´The prime purpose of the KatMouse utility is to enhance the functionality of mice with a scroll wheel, offering 'universal' scrolling: moving the mouse wheel will scroll the window directly beneath the mouse cursor (not the one with the keyboard focus, which is default on Windows OSes). This is a major increase in the usefullness of the mouse wheel.ˇ http://www.code-scout.net/katmouse Hope this helps. -- Cheers Robert ---------------------------------------------------------------- On Mon, 30 Jun 2008 14:01:01 -0700, Terry wrote: My Microsoft mice (I have tried several models) do not scroll with the wheel in Word 2007. scroll mouse wheel in Word 2007?
Thanks Robert for the tip. I will try it. It's disappointing that Microsofr
allows this obvious problem to fester for over a year. I've asked for help from their Support but it remains to be seen what they will come up with. I like the new 2007 Outlook, but I wish I get go back to the old Word, Excel etc. "Robert" wrote: Hi, I had the same problem. My laser mouse wouldnt scroll the Word 2007 document windows. scroll mouse wheel in Word 2007?
I have just discovered that the Word 2007 document window is automatically
scrolled if you 1. Depress and hold down the mouse wheel, 2. Move the mouse pointer up or down. The scrolling speed is controlled (of sorts) by the speed of the mouse movement. |

scroll mouse wheel in Word 2007?
My problem is solved. I asked Microsoft Word Support in Canada (I don't know
where they are actually located). I was advised to change two registry keys, the DATA key and the OPTIONS key, both of them in Hkey_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/Office/12/Word. I was told to rename them as "Old DATA" and "Old OPTIONS". After doing this, my Mouse wheel works perfectly in Word 2007. I am only guessing, but these two keys must have migrated from my previous versions of Word when I upgraded to 2007. It is disappointing that Microsoft doesn't provide this information in its HELP pages, since so many people seem to have the same problem. As for your comment about depressing and holding down the mouse wheel, it doesn't work for me now. But previously, on my super exotic Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000, the side button had the same effect as you have described for pressing the wheel button. (Look at my comment in my first posts). In word 2007, The mouse buttons can be programmed for various functions such as this. However, it doesn' work since I made the Registry change recommended by Microsoft. Personally, I did not like the function you described since it is much more difficult to manoeuvre than the Mouse wheel. Now that I have my Mouse wheel back, I have not attempted to recover the ability to scroll "in all directions" using a button. Thanks for your help Robert. I guess I˘ll have to keep using KatMouse. -- Cheers Robert |
