Default I have a memo that changes date whenever it opens. Stop this?

I have a user who created a memo using a standard template in Word (Office
2000). Whenever she opens the memos she has previously created, they
automatically change the date noted to today's date (whatever day that
maybe). This makes it difficult for her to see when see originally wrote and
sent out the memo. I'm sure it's a simple checkbox somewhere, but I just
can't find it. Thansk

It sounds as if the memo was created using a template and the template has a
Date Field in it. The template should have the field changed to a create
date field which will not automatically update.

Thanks. I was just discussing this with a coworker, and it never dawned on me
that the .dot file that was used to create the memo is still tied to it. If I
change the feature, when she creates a new memo, then the date won't
populate, and she'll lose functionality. If all she needs is to be able to
see when she created the document (which is what it is sounding like now),
she can just use the detailed view in her folder and see when it was created.

Thanks again!

The template to begin with (and the document, now that it's divorced from
the template) needs to have a CreateDate field instead of a Date field. See
