Word 2007 forms...
Does Word 2007 allow users to do forms as easily as 2003? I can't find it. I
used to be able to go to View-Toolbars-Forms and use the form toolbar. How can I do text form fields and checkboxes, drop downs, etc. in 2007?? Thanks! |

Office button, Word Options, Personalize, activate Show Developer tab in
the Ribbon. Click OK. Now you can find the Forms control on the Developer Tab, Controls group. Thank you. I see useful features under that menu besides the "legacy" forms
toolbar I was missing. Thanks again for bringing it to my attention. Doug "Patrick Schmid" wrote: Office button, Word Options, Personalize, activate Show Developer tab in the Ribbon. Click OK. Word 2007 forms...
In previous version of word when I inserted fill-in form fields in tables it
was possible for the user to tab from on entry to the next entry in the table. When I use either the Rich text or plain text entry fields the tab is interpreted as data and doesn't move the user to the next data entry. What am I missing? You can use the up/down arrow keys instead.
Alternatively, create form fields as in previous versions; you can add them via the Legacy Tools button in the Controls group. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Dan Morton" wrote in message ... Word 2007 forms...
Can I get more detailed instructions ? I can't find "personalize" when I go
to Word options. And when I can add things to the "ribbon"... they are shaded and I can't click on them to do anything. Display the Developer tab by checking the "Show Developer tab in the Ribbon"
option in Office button | Word Options, Popular category. Then you can click the Developer tab. In the Controls group, click the Legacy Tools button, and there you'll see the familiar buttons to insert form fields. To protect the document, click Protect Document (also on the Devloper tab), and click Restrict Formatting and Editing. You'll see the task pane as in Word 2003. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Nanlaurit" wrote in message ... Can I get more detailed instructions ? Word 2007 forms...
I have several Word 2003 forms, and save them as my client account. I often
need to go back and edit or make changes from form to forms. I use to just unlock the form edit the formatting and move on. I can't seem to be able to do the same with Word 2007... I open my legacy documents, everything works fine: form fields, drop down menus, check until I unprotect it to make modifications... When I secure the document again, then none of the form fields work, and I can't jump from one field to the next. If I double click of a field, it open up as to create a new one... What am I missing? Add the Lock command from the All Commands section to the QAT. This works in
much the same way as the Lock command on the old Forms toolbar. If you still have access to Word 2003 - see also http://www.gmayor.com/Toolbars_in_word_2007.htm -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org handrx wrote: I have several Word 2003 forms, and save them as my client account. Word 2007 forms...
Hello, this information has been very helpful to me but I am stuck at the
Controls group. I do not have a Legacy Tools button in my controls group on the Developer tab. We just upgraded to Office 2007 and I inherited a form that was developed in 2003. We have having problems with the font. It is causing part of the name entered on the form to be truncated. Everything is greyed out and I can't figure out how to change the font. Can you provide some guidance? Thank you. "Stefan Blom" wrote: Display the Developer tab by checking the "Show Developer tab in the Ribbon" option in Office button | Word Options, Popular category. You will have to unprotect the form before you can change its properties.
Display the Restrict Formatting and Editing pane, for example via Developer tab | Protect Document | Restrict Formatting and Editing. Click the Stop Protection button. After you've unprotected the form, you should be able to access the options in the Controls group, as well as change the formatting applied to the form field. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "cje" wrote in message ... Word 2007 forms...
I followed all these steps and was able to get to where I needed to be. I
did run into a problem when I got to the 'stop protection' button and that is that is asked for a password. Apparently this form was password protected when it was developed. The developer is no longer with the company and so far I have found no one that knows the password so it looks like I can't change anything. Do you know if there's any way to find out what the password is? Thanks so much! "Stefan Blom" wrote: You will have to unprotect the form before you can change its properties. Another option for finding commands for things such as adding text fields is this: I think the solution to everyone's issue with finding commands is this: 1. Right-click on the "HOME" tab. 2. Select "CUSTOMIZE QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR" 3. In the new window under "Choose Commands From:" drop down menu select "ALL COMMANDS" 4.You will see a list of all commands. Scroll down to the command you want to add and highlight it or double click. 5. Click "ADD" button. 6. Your command button will now reside on the top toolbar. Note: there are some commands that are not directly accessible from the standard toolbar menus, so this may help you find the ones you need for your document development. |
