Default Why doesn't my left ruler show a shaded area?

My horizontal ruler gives me a grey area to move left or right, but my
vertical ruler has no shaded are and I cannot find a way to return it to the
bar. Can you help me?

Are you ion Print Layout View? It sounds like you have hidden the White
Space (area between the top/bottom margins and the edge of the page). Move
your pointer to the edge of the page & when you see the tip box that says
Show White Space, click there.
