Default Vertical Text Centered on Page

I am trying to create a spine binder template that when the document opens,
an input box appears and you type the title in the field box, you
Ctrl-Shft-59 to remove the field, it searches and replaces each character and
forces a manual line break so the text will be vertical (so far so good), now
the problem:

Depending on the number of characters, I want it to be centered on the
insert. I thought it might have something to do with Counting Characters
(can you do that) and then divide by 2 and somehow have the text start
inserting there?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

If you create the insert as a table cell, you can set the cell's vertical
alignment to Center.
