Default How do I disable the auto correct feature of Word?

I don't want to fuss with looking at all the features to disable. I want to
shut off the WHOLE DAMN THING. How do I do it? (XP)

There is no single "master switch," but see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/TameAutoFormat.htm.

To re-state this: you don't want to take the time to learn to use the
product you have. Have you considered using NotePad, or WordPad?

You have no idea what I want to do other than that contained in the asked
question. I asked a question. If you have an answer, thank you for your
time. If you simply wish to denegrate what your narrow view intreprets, shut
up.

I can't speak for the OP, but I fully agree with him in this area. If
Word doesn't have a master switch for the autocorrect tool, that's a
severe design flaw.

You often wish to disable all the autocorrect for a few moments, and
then reenable it later. If I've to remember each option for
disabling/enabling them one by one, I can't believe we're in 2006 and
using current software.

It's not a matter of taking the time to learn the software. It's a
matter of good design, which Word lacks, in too many areas. Man, the
first time that I needed to do accurate positioning of images, I
realized I needed to disable the grid. I searched and searched all the
GUI, with no luck. I had to visit newsgroups, and search the
documentation for finding where was hidden (I mean located) such
important switch.

Oh well...
