Printing Invalidates Digital Signature
In a Word document (Word 2007) I inserts a digital signature with a JPEG of
my signature. I Save-as a new document. I print the document. However as soon as I print it, the digital signature is marked "Invalid Signature". Why and what is the work around? |

Most likely you have one or more fields in the document, and the "Update fields before printing" option is checked in the Word Options Display dialog. If the updating of the fields causes any change in the content of the document, the digital signature (which is a mathematical function of the document content) is no longer valid. Try unchecking that update option. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |

Thanks for the reply
The Updating Fields Before Printing option is already unchecked. So it must be something else. Any ideas? Printing Invalidates Digital Signature
Do you have any add-ins that might be changing the document just before
printing? The main clue is that the digital content of the document is being altered somehow. Other than that, I don't know of anything else. Printing Invalidates Digital Signature
The only add-in that is active, according to Word, is the "Person Name
(Outlook e-mail recipients) add-in. I have a PDF printer installed and use the "Save as PDF or XPS" function quite a bit. But this particular document was printed to a PCL 6 laser printer not to PDF. Any other idea's? Thanks. "Jay Freedman" wrote: Do you have any add-ins that might be changing the document just before printing?
