Default Cannot save normal template changes

I open a new file, select template, make changes and then try to save.
Message says I cannot name a template same as an open template, etc.
What do I do?

Thx.

Is that happening to you all the time? I get that every once
and a while. It seems to happen most often if I have Outlook
Express and Word open at the same time. (But even then it
doesn't happen all the time.)

What do I do?

I give it a new name, such as "newnormal.dot". I then exit
Word and go to the C:\Documents and Settings\{your
name}\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates\ folder and
rename normal.dot "oldnormal.dot" and newnormal.dot
"normal.dot".

Note that you cannot "create" a Normal.dot this way; only Word can create
Normal.dot. Even a template based from the start on Normal.dot (that is, by
selecting Template in the New dialog) will not contain all the contents of
Normal.dot. See “WD2002: Styles and AutoText Are Not Copied to New Template
Based on Normal.dot” (applicable to all versions) at
