In 2003 this is called "Windows in Taskbar" have a search in your 2007 for
this. Deselect this option for only one Application Taskbar to appear.
Hope this helps

To change Word 2007's default behavior
1. Click the Office Button to display the Office menu
2. Click Word Options to display the Word Options dialog box and click
Advanced to display the Advanced options
3. Under Display, clear the Show all windows in the taskbar check box
4. This will also provide a second Close button for closing the document,
below the one that closes Word but will only show the active document in the
taskbar.

Once you change this option, you'll need to click Switch Windows on the View
tab in the Window group to select and display another document.

Just in case what you're asking is how you compare two documents, do the
following:
Open the document(s) you want to compare side by side and do either of the
following:
In the Window group on the View tab, click View Side by Side to see two
different documents
Click New Window before clicking View Side by Side to see the same
document in two different windows

In the Window group, do any of the following:
If you want to scroll through the documents (or different windows containing
the same document) at the same time, click Synchronous Scrolling
If you want to reset the document windows to the positions they were in when
you first started comparing documents, click the Reset Window Position
