Default Suggestion: Word should tell when an opened document is unmodified

It would be nice if, after saving an open document but before further work
has been done, Word would have a status note that the document has been
unmodified.

I don't agree, but you can get this information easy enough by running
a macro similar to:
Sub DirtyFlag()
If ActiveDocument.Saved = False Then
MsgBox "File has been altered since last save."
Else
MsgBox "File has not been altered since last save."
End If
End Sub
