Default Excel as a flat file and having calculated numbers

I'm using Excel as a flat file and have calculated fields whicha re
formatted to two decimal points. When Word imports these values they
loose their format and have over eight chracacters after the decimal
point. Using Office 2003.
What should one do?
Thanks - Paul
