Hi kgnoj,

Perhaps you could give a bit more detail.

With 'section numbers', for example, are you referring to Sections,as defined by Section breaks in Word, or are you referring to
something else? Also, you need to understand that pages & lines are a fluid concept with Word - to a large extent, both depend on
the paper size page layout (eg margins, headers/footers) and the current printer driver.

I have a Word document comprised of headings, page numbers and line numbers.
For "section", I actually meant headings. My initial intent was to paste into
Excel and retain the line numbering.

What I have done is to save the doc as a text file. I then open the text
file with Excel and added columns for page number and line numbers!

Thanks for your reply!

Hi kgnoj,

Are the headings formatted using Word's Heading Styles? Where are the line numbers coming from?

Yes, the doc is constructed using Word's Heading Styles. The line numbering
is from Page Setup, Layout. The line numbering was added for reference
purposes. I was attempting to paste doc with actual lines and line numbering
into Excel. For example,

Page No. Line No.
1 1 1. Introduction
1 2 This request...
1 3 ...
2 1 ...

Thanks for your reply. Saving the Word doc as a text file has satisfied what
I was attempting to accomplish! Then using Excel, I just inserted the page
number at the correct row to construct page and line numbers.
