When you scan a document, you must use optical character recognition (OCR)
software to read the picture from the scanner and create text in an editable
Word document. Some kind of OCR software should be bundled with your scanner
hardware, or you can buy it. Popular programs are ABBYY FineReader and
ScanSoft OmniPage.
After the OCR program creates a Word file, you can apply the SYSTRAN program
to that.
