Cannot work with Word 2007 docx
On one of my other PCs (WinXP Pro, Office 2007) I created a word document
(docx - compatibility mode). When I open the document (docx - compatibility mode) on my Vista Ultimate system (Office 2007) I cannot select any of the text with my cursor. If I go back to the WinXP system all seems to function normally. On my Vista system I also noticed that I cannot click in the vertical scroll bar area. I also noticed that I can use the arrow keys to move around in the document. When I open a PowerPoint or Excel file I don't have this cursor issue. When I close Word I'm informed that it has stopped working. I just attempted to create a new test document on the Vista system and I see the same issues as with the other document. Therefore I don't think it has anything to do with the document. I was going to attempt a repair, as you can do in 2003, but I could not find the darn option. OK now I found it, MS has renamed the darn function and put it in a different place (thank you MS for making word so much better, ops do I sound bitter, sorry). When I open the options window I cannot use the mouse or arrow keys to select Resources or anything in the Nav pane but I can use the mouse in the right-half of the window. I'm in the process of moving to the Vista system and I'm not sure just when the word issue appeared but originally all was OK. |

I cannot find your post. I searched for all post by "Terry Farrell" and for
all post containing "corrupt DataKey" and neither produced a post with your answer. "Terry Farrell" wrote in message ... See my reply to your previous post about corrupt DataKey. I did not make a post about a corrupt DataKey, possibly you have me confused
with somebody else. I looked for all of your postings and could not find anything in this newsgroup about corrupt DataKey. If you have a suggestion I'd appreciate if you would repost here. tks.. "Terry Farrell" wrote in message ... See my reply to your previous post about corrupt DataKey. Terry |

Did you not see Graham's reply? At any rate, I easily found Terry's reply:
Sounds like a corrupted Word DataKey. Run Regedit, navigate down to DATA and delete it. When Word is restarted, it will automatically recreate the keys. Word DataKey HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\versio n number\Word\Data For some reason your question was posted in another thread with subject line "how do i get drop caps to work if it's greyed out" Admittedly, it's a lot easier to search for posts if you're using a newsreader such as Outlook Express rather than the Communities portal. -- Suzanne S. Thanks for the additional help, Terry's suggestion is the solution for me
(YEA).... Another question - How did you find the other post? Without Terry's URL I could not find it. I'm using "Window Mail" on my vista PC and Outlook Express on my WinXP Pro system for my newsgroup following. I'm a bit new with both thus it is easy for me to appear as the dumb user. "Suzanne S. The message was easy to find with a Google search of the groups. You are
probably unaware that most of the web forums are simply windows into the same Microsoft Usenet server which we who answer questions use to access the messages. It is much simpler all round if you access the server directly http://www.gmayor.com/MSNews.htm -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org jgt wrote: Thanks for the additional help, Terry's suggestion is the solution for me (YEA).... In Outlook Express, I ungrouped the threads, sorted by From name, and looked
through Terry's recent posts till I found it. As I said, it was buried in a thread with a different subject line. Although you could use Find in Outlook Express to search for, say, "corrupt DataKey," in this case it's not that difficult to ungroup (View | Current View | Group Messages by Conversation) and sort by date, subject line, or From name (by clicking on the appropriate header). -- Suzanne S.
