Excruciatingly painful without assistance. However, there are on line
tutorials and many books to provide help from beginners levels to advanced
levels. There is also a built in guide in Word. And there is this newsgroup.

There are also many web sites to help. Try http://word.mvps.org/ especially
the links page http://word.mvps.org/UsefulLinks/index.htm and the MVP tab on
that page.

Depends on what you want to do, how quickly you learn, and how badly you
want to learn the program.

And you'll go on learning more and better things about this incredibly
useful and complex software for infinity., and I personally think it's one
of the more rewarding things in life that you can do.

I agree. The satisfaction of learning a new feature is great, but even
greater is the satisfaction of forcing Word to do something it doesn't
naturally want to do. g

You've said nothing about yourself that would enable anyone to give a
decent, targeted answer. e.g. touch typer, schooling, similar experience,
etc etc etc etc..
