Default The vertical lines in a pleading template disappear as I edit doc

I am drafting a legal pleading. It should have two vertical lines on the
left side of the page. However, as I move through the document, the lines
appear and disappear, usually disappearing and don't show up on print
preview. Why is it doing this and how can I get it to stop? Thanks.
