Default remove default text from word

Computer uses Office XP. The word program has apparantely adopted a default
text for EVERY new document. Upon opening a new document, there is text that
appears from a previously unsaved document from about 3 months ago. I have to
delete it before going about my task. I cannot figure out how to make that
text go away, and allow a fresh, blank, new document. I need help.

From the FAQ:

28. My blank document has text in it - an old letter, etc. See
