Copy an updatable fiedl
I would like to refer to equations and figures in the body of my text.
The equations and figures use fields that update and I would like my references in the text body to update along with them so that if I say "In figure 2 one can see ..." and figure 2 become figure 3 after the addition of a new figure earlier in the text, my test body will not say "In figure 3 one can see ..." How would I do this? I have tried copying the field but this just results in the text saying "In figure 2 one can see ..." while forcing the figure to become figure 3. Thanks |

Wow, sorry bad typing:
2nd paragraph should read: The equations and figures use fields that update and I would like my references in the text body to update along with them so that if I say "In figure 2 one can see ..." and figure 2 become figure 3 after the addition of a new figure earlier in the text, my TEXT body will NOW say "In figure 3 one can see ..." There is a way to do this manually with field codes, but this is
something MathType will do for you automatically. You can number your equations the way you want, and refer to them in the text. The references and numbers are linked so they update as you describe. We have a free 30-day evaluation of MathType available at the link in my signature. -- Bob Mathews Director of Training Design Science, Inc. bobm at dessci.com http://www.dessci.com/free.asp?free=news FREE fully-functional 30-day evaluation of MathType MathType, WebEQ, MathPlayer, MathFlow, Equation Editor, TeXaide On 18-Mar-2008, wrote: I would like to refer to equations and figures in the body of my text. Insert a cross reference to the figure. You will have to update the fields
if you make any changes. The simplest way to do that is with a macro - see the example at http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Matthew wrote: Wow, sorry bad typing: 2nd paragraph should read: The equations and figures use fields that update and I would like my references in the text body to update along with them so that if I say "In figure 2 one can see ..." and figure 2 become figure 3 after the addition of a new figure earlier in the text, my TEXT body will NOW say "In figure 3 one can see ..."
