Need templare with headers, sub-headers & Table content
I am trying to find a template with consistant pattern with Headers and sub
headers, having a table of contents with the headers and sub-headers in a 1 1.1 1.1.1 2 2.1 2.1.1 numbering pattern I don't want the table of contents pages numbered but want the rest numbered. Every time I try to set this up for myself it keeps falling into disarray. |

Just take it one step at a time.
First, a simple matter of terminology: 'header' is the running text at the top of each page, selected by clicking 'Headers and Footers' on the View menu. What you're talking about are headINGs and sub-headings. Minor point, but important if you're trying to use Help. Create your numbering scheme by using Format Bullets and Numbers : Outline numbers. Assign styles (like Heading 1, Heading 2, etc) to each level of numbering. Insert your table of contents as normal, to refer to those heading styles. "Bob Vancouver" wrote in message ... For information about how to set up the numbering, see:
How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in your Microsoft Word document http://www.ShaunaKelly.com/word/numb...Numbering.html If you create a template to hold your numbering scheme, you can use that template as the basis for new documents (using File New) and the new documents will then inherit your numbering scheme. To do that, see: Creating a Template - The Basics (Part I) http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Custom...platePart1.htm Creating a Template (Part II) http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Custom...platePart2.htm -- Hope this helps.
