Default saving a word 2002 document

Whenever i open one of my word documents and i don't make a change to
it...then, I go File---Close...i get a dialog box that prompts me with the
following statement "Do you want to save the changes to name of my doc?"

WHY DO I GET PROMPTED WITH THIS WHEN I HAVE NOT CHANGED ANYTHING IN THE
DOCUMENT?
