Default Paper Size Conflicts

In Word 2003, I set up a custom paper size to 4.7 X 6.75 inches. After
entering the data, I did a print preview and all was well. I put the custom
sized paper in the HP printer and it wsa all screwed up. When I tried again,
using the preview prior to print option, it said the paper size was 8X11.
This used to work fine, but the last time I used it successfully was prior to
SP3 being installed. Any suggestions/workarounds, or is it a bug in the
process of being repaired, or do I have to, of course, buy Word 2007?

This is a limitation of the printer driver and nothing to do with Word per
se. The solution is to work with the larger standard page size the driver
allows and setup the margins to reflect your actual page size.

Thanks for your response, however, the printer and driver have not changed
and it used to work fine. As I said, the only thing that's changed since I
last used that same combination of size, paper, printer, and MS-Word 2003 is
the update of Service Pack 3.

Word has never been good with custom paper sizes because of its reliance on
the printer driver to supply formatting information. If it worked before
then you have been lucky. Either roll Windows back to before the SP3 update
and hope that it restores the ability or use the workaround.
