Attach ASCII-file to Word document
I describe a series of items in a table and to some of them I want to attach
a small ASCII-file containing the result of a measurement, so that readers, if they wish, can look at the raw data. I want to attach them just as I do in e-mails, ie. an icon which, when clicked, opens the file in Notepad. It sound pretty simple, but i can't find a method. Can anyone help please? NSV |

Attach ASCII-file to Word document
Insert, Object, Create from File, Display as Icon (NOT Link to file), browse
for file, delete the full path down to just the file name and extension, as the icon you wish to display does not show much information. This is for 2003 and prior, maybe different for 2007. Hope this helps. Attach ASCII-file to Word document
It does, thank you very much.
I did not know what makes the difference between a link to a different file and actually saving the contents of that file with the document, but I suppose now that it the 'Display as Icon' feature. Or is the 'Create from file'? Anyway - it works and that's the important thing.
