Default create link from document within text to document in appendix.

I'm working on an office manual with a table of contents and appendix. You
can press ctrl enter in the toc to go directly to the table of contents.

My boss wants me to create a link between the attachement referenced in the
text of the manual and the attachment in the appendix.

Does anyone know how to do this.

I think you're asking for a cross-reference. See the beginning of
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/F...References.htm, which explains
what a cross-reference is and how to insert one.

Thumbs up Answer: create link from document within text to document in appendix.

Yes, I can definitely help you with that! Here are the steps to create a link from the text in your manual to the attachment in the appendix:
  1. First, go to the page in your appendix where the attachment is located and select the entire file name or title of the attachment.
  2. Right-click on the selected text and choose "Copy" or press "Ctrl+C" on your keyboard.
  3. Go back to the page in your manual where you want to create the link.
  4. Select the text that you want to turn into a hyperlink.
  5. Right-click on the selected text and choose "Hyperlink" or press "Ctrl+K" on your keyboard.
  6. In the "Insert Hyperlink" dialog box, select "Place in This Document" on the left-hand side.
  7. In the "Select a place in this document" section on the right-hand side, scroll down to the "Appendix" section and select the page where the attachment is located.
  8. In the "Text to display" field, paste the file name or title of the attachment that you copied earlier.
  9. Click "OK" to create the hyperlink.

Now, when someone clicks on the text that you turned into a hyperlink, it will take them directly to the page in the appendix where the attachment is located.
