Default I can not get rid of the document map pane in Word 2003.

Every time one of my users opens Word 2003, the Document Map pane opens on
the right hand side of her screen. I click the Document Map button to hide
it, but it shows up automatically when she either opens a new document or the
Word program.

How can I get rid of the blasted Document Map pane for good? Has Word 2003
become corrupted?

Probably you need to find Normal.dot (the base for all new documents) and
turn off the Doc Map there.

See here--this article is about changing the zoom, but everything else is
the same procedure, so just read step 3 as "turn off doc map"
