Legal Templates
I need to make a pleading template with the numbers on the left side, spaced
at 1.5 lines and a firm logo name on the bottom right. Using the wizard works until a secretary attempts to paste text into the template. When this happens, the number spacing is removed and duplicate numbers are inserted. (It goes from 1 thru 34 at 1.5 lines to 1 thru 34 single spaced, then starting at 1 again all the way down the page) Using 'Paste Special' does not work, because there is so much clean up work to do. (Re-centering, indenting, bolding etc) I have not been successful in my attempts to lock the formatting for the template. I tried to create a line and number graphic, but when the template is used, the graphic is not carried to the second page. We can get around this by printing on pre-printed pleading paper, but Federal court is requiring electronic filing and they have to be in PDF format. Anyone run into this? Thanks Bill |

The Pleading Wizard that ships with Word creates a document with fixed
numbers in a text box anchored to the header (so it repeats on every page). Ordinary line numbering in Word matches the actual text lines, so unless the text is 1.5-line spaced, you won't get line numbers that way. -- Suzanne S.
