Default Word 2003 (Windows) marks addresses, etc. with dotted red underlin

I have spent hours trying to find a way to make this stop. Eventually, I have
sometimes succeeded, then forgotten how I did it until someone sends me a
document with this "feature" turned on again and the whole process starts
over. Is there some way I can make it stop forever?

In Tools Options View, uncheck the "SmartTags" box.

To prevent them from appearing again, use the AutoOpen macro at the bottom
of the page at http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm, and add the
indicated line:

With ActiveWindow.View
.Type = wdPrintView
.Zoom.Percentage = 100
.FieldShading = wdFieldShadingWhenSelected
.ShowFieldCodes = False
.DisplayPageBoundaries = True
.DisplaySmartTags = False ' == add this
End With
