I would like to have word each time it is closed to Replace normal.dot with
newname.dot ever time word is closed.

i have put a folder on the c drive named cleannorm and in the folder I have
newname.dot How can I do this not good at vb. Please help

Why do you want to do this? It rather defeats the object of normal.dot.

Instead set tools options save prompt to save normal.dot and don't
save any unwanted changes to it.

You cannot delete Normal.dot from Word as it is locked while Word is open
and vba will not run when it has closed.. You would have to do this through
some form of log-on script before Word starts.

Why?

Normal.dot is intended to be a holder of individual customizations. It
should not be shared. Is this a public computer?
