HOW DO I DELETE FILES IN MS OFFICE- WORD 2007
You delete the files the same way you did as far back as DOS - within the
file manager, now called Windows Explorer. -- JoAnn Paules Microsoft MVP - Publisher How to ask a question http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 "Silverado" wrote in message news i need to delete files that i create in word 2007. i've tried evrything i can. any help out there? |

HOW DO I DELETE FILES IN MS OFFICE- WORD 2007
Can you describe what you're doing and what happens? As long as a file is
not open or otherwise protected against deletion/change, you should have no problem deleting it either from any of the File dialogs in Word, or using Windows Explorer. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Silverado" wrote in message news i need to delete files that i create in word 2007. i've tried evrything i can. any help out there? |

HOW DO I DELETE FILES IN MS OFFICE- WORD 2007
Ah. Well, that's different. Do you want to actually delete those files? Or,
do you want to delete the shortcuts that appear in the Recent Documents list? Deleting the shortcuts doesn't delete the files--it merely removes them from that list. Unlike in Word 2003 and earlier, there is no way to remove individual files from the list. You can remove the files listed by setting the number to display to 0, then setting it back to the desired number. Office - Word Options - Advanced - Display subsection, set "Show this number of Recent Documents" to 0. That will remove all of them from the list. If you want to keep some on the list, but ditch the rest, click the the push-pins for the ones you want to keep, then set the "Show this number..." to the number of files with push-pins set. So, if you click the push-pins for 5 files, then reset the number to show to 5, then all files except for those 5 will be removed from the list. Unfortunately... if you then reset the number to some number above 5, the removed items will reappear. The only way I've found to make them go away and don't return (until the next time you open them with the # set above 0) is to set the list to 0. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Silverado" wrote in message ... i 'm sorry i'm not doing this right but i will get it right. i use xp-sp2 with office 2007 and when i click on the MS office button i get a list of recent documents. i would like to delete some of them "Herb Tyson [MVP]" wrote: Can you describe what you're doing and what happens? The problem, of course, is that, even if you delete the files, the shortcuts
remain. In previous versions, you could use Ctrl+Alt+Hyphen to zap them; Word 2007 doesn't provide any comparable feature. -- Suzanne S. Yep. In 2007, you can zap all of them at once by resetting the list to 0,
but they can't be zapped individually. And deleting the actual file has no effect on the Recent Files listing. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Suzanne S. HOW DO I DELETE FILES IN MS OFFICE- WORD 2007
Deleting the actual file has never had any effect on the MRU list. Of
course, that makes it especially tantalizing when users try to reopen a file they opened directly from an attachment and saved (repeatedly) in a temp folder. g -- Suzanne S.
