I'm trying to automatically spell check a document and the option to "Hide
spelling errors in this document" is selected and greyed out (dimmed). I
can't uncheck it to allow me to spell check the document as I type. Any
ideas?

In Word, click on Tools | Options | Spelling & Grammar. Check
the "Check spelling as you type" box. Then check or uncheck the
"Hide spelling errors in this document" box. Click on OK.
