Default images shift or disappear when scrolling in word

When scrolling up/down images shift or appear distorted. after waiting a
couple of minutes sometimes they pop back in place.

Microsoft has a patch for it . i installed it . improved somewhat but
still doesnt work correctly.
when i click on the image it pops directly into view and is correct.

images are inserted ( embedded ) and inline with text.
the document i'm working on is large ( 680 pages ) and still increasing
