just before the footer area to scroll to the next page. good luck! "cynjazz" wrote: How to you make a table break across pages? I don't want to split the table; I want it to break automatically. |

Word table won't break across pages
While I cannot reproduce it with a new table, I came across one to-day that
would not break across a page. It was centre aligned and the Text wrapping was set to around. Setting the Text wrapping to none, caused in to break normally. If it was left at "Around" or put back there, inserting rows into the table resulted in the top and bottom rows just disappearing off the top and the bottom of the page respectively. -- Hope this helps. Word table won't break across pages
Wrapped tables cannot break across pages except in Word 2003, where there is
a Compatibility Option to allow it. -- Suzanne S. Word table won't break across pages
I'm having a similar problem, and none of these fixes have worked. I'm using
Office XP. I'm creating minutes, and what I want is a narrow column on the right for initials so that people can see quickly any items that relate to them. I've been doing this with a table, one row of two columns, which goes to two or three pages. I start with three "normal" paras, not in the table, giving apologies etc, across the whole width of the doc, and then have a the two-column table. After I've entered enough paras into the table to fill page one, the table then moves to the top of page two, leaving the rest of page one blank. I've tried splitting the table into several rows, splitting the table, and I've tried all the fixes that have been suggested. Is there another way of getting the layout that I'd like? TIA, Dianne Reuby |

Word table won't break across pages
It seems very likely that you have one of these problems:
1. The table has become wrapped. If you are working in Print Layout view (as most people do), it is very easy to accidentally nudge the table handle, which results in the table being wrapped. Wrapped tables can't be broken across pages. Go to the Table tab of Table Properties and make sure wrapping is set to None. 2. The table has "Keep with next" formatting. This formatting in a single-row table will cause the table to stay with the following text. Unless you have checked "Allow rows to break across pages" on the Row tab of Table Properties, the whole table will move (this box is checked by default, however). In a multi-row table it will cause rows to stay together, though again they should break internally if allowed. -- Suzanne S. Word table won't break across pages
Thanks - although I'd got those options set OK, when I highlighted the entire document (including paras outside the table) and checked format paragraphs, the "keep with next" option was checked. Removing this solved the problem. Thanks for your help Dianne Reuby |
