Default Why does Word ask if I want to make a copy when I open a document.

When I open a Word docuement (i.e. click on a file on my desktop), launching
Word, I receive a message that says "the document is already open, do I want
to make a copy?" I press cancel, then go on with my work. If I open other
documents from Word (now already open), I do not get the message. I would
like to turn off this message.
