Default Word not auto formatting links

Word isn't automatically formatting links when I type in a URL. I've tried
going to Auto Correct Options under Word Options. "Internet and network
paths with hyperlinks" is checked, but it doesn't format the links. Any idea
what's happening or what I can do to fix it?

Thanks!

I think URLs aren't recognized unless they begin with http://.
