Default printing 2 columms

Have XP SP2 with Word 2003. How can I get a letter or document that is over 1
page in length to print out in 2 columm format with the last page having the
left columm run the full length of the page? All I can get is the last page
having 2 short columms. I need to separate the pages somehow?

1. On the Compatibility tab of Tools | Options, check the box for "Don't
balance column for Continuous section starts," or

2. Delete the Continuous break at the end of the columnar section, or

3. Insert a column break (Ctrl+Shift+Enter) and an empty paragraph to go in
the second (empty) column.
