I am having a frustrating problem in Word 10. I’m typing a manuscript and find that sometimes I cannot get paragraphs close together with standard spacing between them. There are pages where paragraphs might have 10 spaces between them, and I cannot get them closer no matter what I try.
Has anyone had this problem and know how to solve it??

Did you remember to change not only the line spacing (which determines the
spacing between the lines of a paragraph) but also the spacing before/after
(which determines the spacing added as you press Enter to create a new
paragraph)? In this case, it would seem you want zero spacing before/after.

Turn on "Show Non-printing Characters" (Ctril-Shift-8) and delete all
the extra paragraph marks between your paragraphs of text.
