Word 2007 Mailings Envelope Address dropdown list
When I wish to print an envelope address. I get the address from Outlook 2003
I open Word 2007, Choose Mailings and click Envelopes. On the envelopes and Labels screen I click the small book image on the Delivery line. I get a small screen "Choose Profile". It shows the Profile Name "Outlook" I get the following error: " The address list could not be displayed. The contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened, it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from the outlook address book, see Microsoft Office Outlook Help." I respond with OK Now, I get a box that is titled "Select Name" I click the dropdown arrow under show names from the: and get three choices. The first is "Outlook Address Book. The second is Contacts The third is also Contacts, The first one says there are no addresses. the second gives the error above. The third entry works! It gives me the address from outlook to select the one that I want. How do I get rid of the first two entries that don't work? I could not figure this out from outlook help. -- Frank C Dell Inspiron 530S Win Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP1 Dell studio laptop Win Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP1 HP Photosmart D7260 |

From Outlook, Tools Email accounts view or change address books. Delete
the unwanted entries. In fact it might be a plan to delete all the entries - and add back Outlook Address Book. This should restore the links. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Frank C wrote: When I wish to print an envelope address. Word 2007 Mailings Envelope Address dropdown list
Thanks for the reply Graham,
When I follow your instructions and get to the screen for Email accounts it says: "You can select an account and change it's settings or remove it." Ther are no entries in the box to select or remove. My problem is not related to email, I do not use outlook for email I use Windows live mail. The problem relates to using outlook addresses on envelopes in Word. Do you have additional suggestions? Thanks -- Frank C Dell Inspiron 530S Win Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP1 Dell studio laptop Win Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP1 HP Photosmart D7260 "Graham Mayor" wrote: From Outlook, Tools Email accounts view or change address books. Your problem IS related to e-mail. In order to use Outlook addresses in
Word, Outlook must be the default e-mail application in Windows. It will nlt work with Windows Live Mail as default e-mail application. It was not the e-mail account I asked you to remove but the Outlook Address Book. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Frank C wrote: Thanks for the reply Graham, When I follow your instructions and get to the screen for Email accounts it says: "You can select an account and change it's settings or remove it." Word 2007 Mailings Envelope Address dropdown list
Graham,
Thank you for insisting that I follow your instructions. I removed the Outlook Address Book entry and clicked finish Then, I repeated the process that you specified and put it back. Now, My Word access to the outlook addresses is seamless. I no longer get the errors, there is only one entry in the dropdown and I go directly to the outlook Address Book for the addresses that I need. This has been an annoyance for a long time. I am happy to have it fixed Thank You Very Much Frank C Dell Inspiron 530S Win Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP1 Dell studio laptop Win Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP1 HP Photosmart D7260 "Graham Mayor" wrote: Your problem IS related to e-mail. Word 2007 Mailings Envelope Address dropdown list
Appreciative donations to my web site are always welcome
Glad you managed to get there in the end. However I am puzzled that you can access the address book from Outlook 2003 in Word 2007 when you are not using Outlook as default e-mail application. You won't be able to do that if you upgrade (and it is an upgrade) to Outlook 2007. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Frank C wrote: Graham, Thank you for insisting that I follow your instructions. Word 2007 Mailings Envelope Address dropdown list
Graham,
Again you are correct. I do have Outlook set as the default mail client. I just don't use it. I was using Thunderbird for a long time until I started having conflicts with my security programs. Then, when I got my new computer, the Inspiron 530s, I was satisfied with Windows Live Mail. The Office suite that I got did not include Outlook so I continued to use the old 2003 Outlook. I do like it's address book and the notes feature. I wish we had a universal address book to use with any email client AND for Word snail mail. Thank You for the help and your attention to detail Frank C Dell Inspiron 530S Win Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP1 Dell studio laptop Win Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP1 HP Photosmart D7260 "Graham Mayor" wrote: Appreciative donations to my web site are always welcome Glad you managed to get there in the end.
