Default Effects in 2007

On the page layout tab, next to the themes, there are effect choices. What
exactly do these change? I have tried them with shapes, text boxes, etc., but
I don't see any kind of change. What am I missing?

Thanks

For Word, Theme Effects apply to SmartArt and Charts rather than shapes and
text boxes. Try inserting SmartArt, use one of the 3D effects, such as
Polished, from the SmartArt Quick Styles (on the Design tab), and then play
with the Theme Effects. :-)

They work only if you've actually used theme formatting/elements in your
document. So, for example, if you use theme-based colors for your document,
then changing the colors using the Colors tool will affect those colors.
Ditto fonts.

So, for example, if you assign Heading 1 to a heading, then pick a theme,
you should at the very least see Heading 1 change. If you use Change Styles
(in the Home ribbon) to apply a different style set, you'll likely see more
changes reflected when you change fonts/colors.

Effects are a bit more difficult to see. You'd need to insert some SmartArt
elements that incorporate the kinds of effects and colors used in the
themes.
