Default lost unsaved data from word 2002 is it lost permenantly?

i have lost unsaved data auto recover has not appeared to save it is it lost
permently

Yes. If it wasn't saved, there's nothing to recover.

Auto recover does not save your document. It is a means to aid recovery if
Word crashes. For autobackup methods see
http://www.gmayor.com/automatically_backup.htm
