Default Disappearing image

I have a document that has an image (not sure it's origins,) a text box and
wordart. All three appear normal and can be manipulated in the page view
but in the normal view nothing appears. Interestingly, if I copy one of
those items and paste to a new document the same thing occurs. Also if I
save as a RTF the same thing occurs...

All the margins are fine, no headers, footers, etc. Must be something about
the images themselves but I have no idea what/where to look to fix the
issue.

Any ideas?
Thanks

In addition to the page Suzanne referred you to you might just want to take
a look in Word Help for the subject "About Ways to View a Word Document".

I appreciate both responses but nothing helped.

Perhaps noteworthy, the graphics cannot be made an "inline images" and
"paste special" bitmap independant is not an option. All other paste
special options result with the same problem...

I've got no clue where they got the images.
Unless another idea, I think they need to start over.

Thanks for you time...

Are you viewing the document in Print Layout view? Do you have "Drawings"
checked on the View tab of Tools | Options?

Yes, drawings are checked, placeholders unchecked...

Hi Steve -

but in the normal view nothing appears

If you read the information on the page Suzanne linked you to or the Help
info on Views you'd have found that any graphic *not* set to In Line with
Text will *not* be visible in Normal View... That's a major part of what
Normal View is all about. IOW, what you reported in your op is - uh, let me
think - "normal"

Also, setting the Text Wrapping to In Line isn't a function of Paste Special
or a matter of how the graphic is put into the doc. It is a FormatPicture -
Layout specification applied once the image is inserted (also available from
the Picture Toolbar - the button is the one that looks like a dog behind
venetian blinds). However there is a setting in ToolsOptions - General
which allows setting the default for inserting graphics.

"Starting Over" isn't going to change how the program works
