Odd problem with Word 2000 Comments
I'm having an odd problem with Word 2000 comments (which I use lot in
editing work). If I delete a comment marker in the text (when the query is resolved), it disappears from the text of course plus *sometimes* it removes it from the comments list at the end of the document, and the comments numbers move up to suit. But *sometimes* although the comment correctly disappears from the text, it stays in the comments list and although the comment itself in that list can be edited away, the reference number can't. This only happens sometimes. Any ideas? |

Are you using "Delete Comment" to remove the comment, or are you just
selecting text around the marker and pressing Delete? -- Suzanne S. Odd problem with Word 2000 Comments
Hi Suzanne
I've tried both deleting the comment marker from the text (usually requires pressing delete twice) and that *sometimes* removes it from the text and the comments panel (and renumbers the others). And also by clicking on the delete comments icon on the review toolbar (whih is *sometimes* greyed out). I currently have a 55,000 word book, which had about sixty comments. I successfully deleted forty and twenty remain in the comments page (despite all my efforts), though not in the text. If I click in the comments box on any one it automatiucally goes to the text where it was but nohting is shown there... Peculiar, and I'd like to clear this up. I have one other wierd happening. This full length book file seems to keep changing unexpectedly in file size, as I edit. For example, in one edit run I might find and correct just a word or two. The filesize then reported may be up (or down!) 9K. Often it goes down when I'm sure I've added and vice versa! Suzanne S. Odd problem with Word 2000 Comments
If you're ready to ditch them all, is there a Delete All Comments in
Document command in Word 2000? That's very helpful in Word 2002/2003. It's also possible that the document may be borderline corrupt, so you might want to keep an eye on it. -- Suzanne S.
