word attachment
I recently bought microsoft office home and student 2007 which has a word
2007. I installed this program to my hp computer which has windows vista. Everytime I make a new document using word 2007 and send this thru email attachment it always shows docx instead of doc at the end and whenever they try to open the attachment i sent they could not read it. Is it because they have old version of the word or the new version of the word 2007 has always docx at the end instead of doc.? Please help me. i am going to start my online class and could not send my assignments to my instructor because they could not open the attachment which has docx. at the end. Please give me advice on what to do... thanks |

The standard file format for Word 2007 is DOCX, a compressed version of XML.
If you want to save as Word document DOC format use should save as Word 97-2003 format. Even then some of your recipients may experience problems - see http://www.gmayor.com/Problems_opening_2007_docs.htm . Hi m.s
They should fix this themselves. You can make sure your document is saved as a .doc by going to Pizza Button Word Options (at bottom) Save Click in first dropdown window and select third option Word 97-2003 document That sets it permanently as a Word option. OR You can just do a manual Save As and select the third option in the dropdown Word 97-2003 document .doc And make sure Checkbox is checked to maintain compatibility with Word 97-2003. Remember not to use any 2007 features which are not backwards compatible as they will be lost on saving. Hope this helps. "m.s" wrote in message ...
