Big hierarchical outline numbered lists
Hi
Tried to work with big hierarchical outline numbered lists. I need to hide the branches, like in file explorer, for example. Because the list is really big. Tried to make everything the headers, but 1) the good tree in document map is on the grey background 2) the tree of headers in document always show the grey lines over the words if the branch is collapsed What else can I try to use? Note that if you want to make the entries in the document map easier to
read, you can change the font and/or size of entries, by modifying the Document Map paragraph style. Alternatively, you can use Outline view instead of the document map. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Aleksey" wrote in message ... Hi Tried to work with big hierarchical outline numbered lists. Thanks, I also tried to use the OpenOffice,
there is white background in document map, but it seems to be a buggy thing, so I cannot report success. Peoples devote the web pages to the programs, which can do it, they call them "outliners". http://tkoutline.sourceforge.net/wiki/29 It is strange that after more then 10 years of evolution so natural feature is not normally supported in MS Word while widely used in MS VS. It is really pity. Aleksey. "Stefan Blom" wrote in message ... Although the document map may have its flaws (see
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/general/DocumentMap.htm), Outline view definitely works in Word, and it is quite useful too. For information on creating a numbered or bulleted outline list, see http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numb...Numbering.html. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Aleksey" wrote in message ... Big hierarchical outline numbered lists
I really cannot use MS Word outline, because
most of my branches will be collapsed most of the time and contain the subbranches. When the branch is collapsed and contains subbranches it is stricken out by downy grey lines. It is really unacceptable. I downloaded the EmEditor, it is almost perfect with its outline add-in. The only problem is that I cannot put the navigation tree on the left side, it is fixed on the right. Interesting, why the VS team is sure that the user can use the small tidy pluses, but MS Word team thinks that the user needs big ugly white crosses for the same purpose? Do they think that the ability to hit the 2mmx2mm screen area by mouse is somehow related to the M.S. in C.S.? "Stefan Blom" wrote in message ...
