Default Updating my TOC duplicates Excel charts

Hi all,

I am working on a report using Word 2002. There are over 50 pages of text
and the TOC was fine until I added around 6 spreadsheets and 100 charts from
Excel to it. Each chart is on separate page with around 12 others, between
section breaks to allow changes to page orientation. When I updated my TOC
all the charts, but not the spreadsheets, were duplicated and placed under
the TOC. The pages are now numbered from 275 upwards.

Any ideas on how to get the pagination right would be most welcome.

Sounds like you inserted each chart into a paragraph that is
formatting with one of Word's built-in Heading styles. Select
each paragraph containing a chart, and change the paragraph style
to Normal or something else. Then update the TOC.

Hi garfield-n-odie,

You were right! Many thanks. I have been tearing out what little hair I
have left over this.

Best regards from Ireland.
