Default How do I set a preference for one Word version over another?

I have two Word versions (2000 and 2002) and after downloading some updates,
the default version of Word that comes up is the older one. How do I reset a
preference for the 2002 version instead?

Hi Gaynep

You may need to do two things here.

First, how are you starting Word? From a menu item on the Start menu? If so,
you need to change the menu item to make it a shortcut to the Word version
you want. Microsoft Office products have 'special' shortcuts that are
installed by default. But you can make an ordinary shortcut to the
winword.exe file in the appropriate folder.

Second, if you double-click the name of a Word document in Windows Explorer,
Windows will use Word to open the document. You may need to change the file
associations. In Windows Explorer, do Tools Folder Options File Types.
Find the .doc and .dot extensions. For each, click Change, then Browse, and
navigate to the 2002 winword.exe file.

Hope this helps.
