Default Style Dropdown

Hello,

Word 2003 SP2

I used to have a style drop down box in a toolbar. I could highlight text
and select a style from the dropdown. For example, I could highlight a
phrase and select Heading1 and the Heading1 style would be applied to the
phrase I highlighted.

I have lost Style dropdown box from my toolbar.

How can I get this dropdown back?

Thanks,
Wayne

To reload this stylebar:

1. Click Tools then Customize.
2. Ensure that the Formatting toolbar is checked.

Suzanne,

I carefully read through the article you cited. I could see the Style
Dropdown in the Commands list. I could drag it and drop it into one of the
Categories. I could even see the Style Dropdown box in the toolbars while I
was in Tools/Customize. But the Style Dropdown never appears in a toolbar
after I press Close and select "Save As" like the article suggested.

Do you have any other suggestions? I can use CtrlShiftS to assign
styles but it is a lot more work than using the Style Dropdown.

Thanks.

Yes, this has been done but it does not bring the Style Dropdown back.

Thanks.

Okay, this article is written more for menus than toolbars. Did you try
resetting the toolbar? Also, I think you have misread the article because it
doesn't say Save As, but "Save in," and you do this before you close the
Customize dialog. Also, you don't drag the command to a category but to the
Formatting toolbar.

Thanks Suzanne!

The key for me was when you said, "also, you don't drag the command to a
category but to the Formatting toolbar". I drug the Style Dropdown up to the
formatting toolbar and all is well. I thought you could only drag and drop
the commands within the confines of the "Customize" window.

I know the article said to drag and drop to a menu, but I wasn't working
with a menu, rather a toolbar and I did not make the connection between a
menu object and a toolbar object.

Thanks again,
Wayne
