Use Alt+F9 to toggle the display of field codes and inside the closing }
insert the following formatting switch \# "$,0.00;($,0.00);-" or \# "$,0.00;$(,0.00);-" Alt+F9 again to toggle off the display of the field codes. -- Hope this helps.
