Default Template - Create date field

Hi,

We recently migrated from Office 2002 to Office 2003. A template that worked
perfectly in 2002 has a glitch in 2003.

When I create a new document from a template, the field Createdate won't
update, even if a I preview the document.

The option to update the field is activated.

What am I missing ?

Windows XP - Office 2003 (sp3)

This is one of those things that has just changed. It will update when you
print (assuming you have "Update fields" checked on Tools | Options |
Print), or you can update it manually.

That's just it, the option to update the field when printing is checked. It
just doesn't do it.

If you are actually creating a new document (*.doc file) based on a template
(*.dot file), or if you are even creating a new document based on an
existing one (using Save As), then the CreateDate field should be updatable.
If it is not, then perhaps the field is unlocked; if so, unlock it with
Ctrl+Shift+F11. It might also be worth checking (if you haven't already) to
make sure that the field is still really a field (Alt+F9 to display the
field code) and not static text.

I'm glad you figured that out even though I wrote "unlocked" when I meant
"locked"!
