Default chart colours
Hello,
Is there a way to change the default colours for a chart when it is inserted into a Word document? I can change the colours on an existing chart, but when I insert a new graph, the colours revert to the old ones. I have created a chart the way it needs to be, and have modified the chart fills and line colours and have created a "user defined custom chart" formatting style based on this. But, when I insert a new chart and apply this style, some elements of the chart change, but the colours revert back to the old default. Is there a way to fix this? (Same problem on WinXP and 2000) Thanks, Mark |

After you have saved the chart colors as a custom chart, I believe there is
a check box to make that chart type the default. -- Suzanne S. No, this makes it keep all the attributes EXCEPT the colours. The only way to
keep these colours is to copy this chart and then modify it. Inserting a new graph reverts the colours. There must be a way. "Suzanne S. I'm not seeing that here. If I set a custom black-and-white chart as the
default chart, that's what I get the next time I insert a chart in a given document, and the choice seems to stick when I create a new document as well. -- Suzanne S. But this is making a black and white chart. When I assign specific
user-defined colours, they do not hold over to the new charts. "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote: I'm not seeing that here. Actually, one of my charts has user-defined colors.

Really? Do all of the colours remain? We have sound that some do, while
others revert. There seems to be no reason why this is so. "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote: Actually, one of my charts has user-defined colors. |

I haven't really had enough experience with this to be sure. I do know that
I have always found the version of MS Graph used in Word very difficult to deal with; the Excel charting facility is reportedly better, though even it has some bugs. All this will be better in Office 12, I believe. -- Suzanne S. Thanks for your responses, Suzanne. I appreciate it.
Hopefully things will improve with the new version. Office seems to be riddled with obscure bugs that most people never come across. "Suzanne S.
